سَخَلَهُمْ, aor. ـَ
And سَخَلَ الشَّىْءَ He took the thing by deceit (Ḳ, TA) and by seizure: but not known to Az except on the authority of Lth; and its correctness is doubted by him, unless it be formed by transposition from خَلَسَ, like as they said جَذَبَ and جَبَذَ, and بَضَّ and ضَبَّ. (TA.)

سخّلت النَّخْلَةُ, inf. n. تَسْخِيلٌ, The palmtree bore dates such as are termed [سُخَّل, i. e.] شِيص: (Ṣ, TA:) so in the dial. of El-Ḥijáz: (TA:) or it was weak in its date-stones and its dates: or it shook off its dates. (Ḳ, TA.)
And سخّل, (Ḳ,) or سخّل النَّخْلَةَ, (TA,) said of a man, He shook the palm-tree in order that its dates might fall off. (Ḳ, TA.)
And سخّلهُ, (Ṣ,) or سخّلهُمْ, inf. n. as above, (Ḳ,) He attributed, or imputed, to him, or them, a vice, fault, or defect, (Ṣ, Ḳ, TA,) and reckoned him, or them, weak: of the dial. of Hudheyl. (Ṣ, TA.)

اسخلهُ It (an affair, or event, TA) kept him, or held him, back; delayed him, or retarded him. (Ḳ, TA.)

Also † An infant that is an object of love to his parents: (IAạr, O, TA:) originally, the “offspring of the sheep or goat” [app. as a sing. as well as a coll. gen. n.]. (TA.)

سَخْلَةٌ
سَخْلَةٌ A lamb, or kid, in whatever state it be; (Ḳ;) male or female: (TA:) or a lamb, or kid, when just born; male or female: (Ṣ, M, O, Mṣb, Ḳ:) or, accord. to some, peculiarly applied to a lamb; and this is affirmed by ʼIyáḍ and Er-Ráfi'ee: accord. to some, peculiarly to a kid; and so affirms IAth: (TA:) [see also بَهْمٌ, in three places:] pl. سَخْلٌ↓, (Ṣ, O, Mṣb, Ḳ,) [or rather this is a coll. gen. n.] like as تَمْرٌ is of تَمْرَةٌ, (Mṣb,) [and is app. also used as a sing., (see the next preceding paragraph,)] and [the pl. properly so termed is] سِخَالٌ (Ṣ, O, Mṣb, Ḳ) and سِخَلَةٌ, which is extr. [as a pl. form, so much so that Sb holds it to be a quasi-pl. measure, not a broken pl. measure, as is said in the TA voce جِبَأَةٌ]. (Ḳ.)
سُخَّلٌ
سُخَّلٌ (Az, Ṣ, O, Ḳ) andسُخَّالٌ↓, (Az, O, Ḳ,) applied to men, Weak; (Ṣ, O, Ḳ;) bad, vile, or base; (Ḳ;) or low, ignoble, mean, or sordid: (Az, O:) a pl. having no sing.: (Az, Ṣ, O:) or its sing. is سَخْلٌ↓: (Ḳ, TA: in the CK سُخَّلٌ [like the former pl.]:) so says Khálid. (IJ, TA.)
Also سُخَّلٌ, (CK,) orسَخْلٌ↓, (TḲ,) [in the TA without any syll. signs,] Anything not completed. (IJ, Ḳ.)
Also the former, (Ṣ, O, Ḳ,) in the dial. of the people of El-Medeeneh, (Ṣ, O,) The sort of dates termed شِيص, (Ṣ, O, Ḳ,) i. e. of which the stones do not become hard: (TA:) or, accord. to ʼEesà Ibn-ʼOmar, dates of which two or three grow together in one place, intermingling. (O, TA.)

مَسخُولٌ
مَسخُولٌ Pronounced to be low, base, vile, mean, or contemptible: (Ḳ:) like مَخْسُولٌ. (TA.)
Unknown: (Ṣ, O, Ḳ:) and so مَخْسُولٌ. (O.) A poet says,
* تُرَى فِى السَّمَآءِ وَلَا تُعْلَمُ ** وَأَنْتُمْ كَوَاكِبُ مَسْخُولَةٌ *
[And ye are stars unknown, that are seen in the sky but not known]: or, as some relate it, مَخْسُولَةٌ. (Ṣ, O.)
