عَيْقٌ [as inf. n. of عَاقَ having يَعِيقُ for its aor.] is syn. with عَوْقٌ [as inf. n. of عَاقَ having يَعُوقُ for its aor.], (O, Ḳ, TA,) signifying The act of hindering, preventing, impeding, withholding, or turning back or away. (TA.)
