لَمَأَهُ, and لَمَأَ عَلَيْهِ, aor. ـَ
لَمَأَ الشَّىْءَ He took the whole thing; took it entirely. (Ḳ.)
لَمَأَ الشَّىْءَ, (Ḳ,) inf. n. لَمْءٌ, (TA,) He glanced, or took a slight look at the thing; beheld it quickly: like لَمَحَهُ. (Ḳ.)

المأ عَلَيْهِ He (a thief, TA) took it away privily. (Ḳ.) [See also أَلْمَى.]
المأ عَلَىَّ حَقِّى He denied me my right, or due. (Ḳ.)
المأت الدَّوَابُّ المَكَانَ (Ṣ) [in the Ḳ, بِالَمكَانِ; but this appears, from what is said in the Ṣ and the TA, to be wrong;] The beasts of carriage left the place bare of pasture. (Ṣ, Ḳ.)
المأ عليه, (Ḳ,) or بِهِ, (Ṣ, L,) He took, or got, possession of it; took it, got it, or held it, within his grasp, or in his possession: syn. إِشْتَمَلَ عَلَيْهِ: (Ṣ, Ḳ:) or the latter signifies he took it away; went away with it. (Ḳ.) المأ عَلَى الشَّىْءِ He got possession of the thing. (L.) ذَهَبَ ثَوْبِى فَمَا أَدْرِى مَنْ المأ به [My garment is gone, and I know not who has taken, or got, possession of it; or who has taken it away]. (Ṣ.) The phrase without negation is also used. 5. ⇒ تلمّأ
تلمّأت الأَرْضُ بِهِ, (Ḳ,) and عَلَيْهِ, (Ṣ, Ḳ,) The earth enclosed him; was made even over him: and concealed him. (Ṣ, Ḳ.) See 8.
8. ⇒ التمأ
التمأ بِمَا فِى الجَفْنَةِ, andالمأ↓, andتلمّأ↓, He took to himself the contents of the bowl. (Ḳ, TA.) [See also التمع and المع and تلمّع.]
أُلْتُمِئَ لَوْنُهُ His colour altered, or became altered. (Ṣ, Ḳ.) إِلْتَمَأَ is also mentioned as having the same signification. (TA.) [See also التمع and التمى.]
مَلْمُؤَةٌ
مَلْمُؤَةٌ A place in which a thing is taken (يُؤْخَذُ, as in some copies of the Ḳ) or found (يُوجَدُ, as in other copies of the Ḳ).
A sportsman's, or hunter's, or fowler's, or fisherman's net. (Ḳ, TA.)
