حَاقَ بِهِ, aor. يَحِيقُ, (Ṣ, Ḳ,) inf. n. حَيْقٌ and حُيُوقٌ and حَيَقَانٌ, (Ḳ,) It surrounded, encompassed, encircled, or beset, him, or it; (Ṣ, Ḳ;) only used in relation to evil; (Bḍ in xvi. 36;) [as also حاق به, aor. يَحُوقُ, inf. حَوْقٌ;] and soاحاق↓ به. (Ibn-ʼAbbád, Ḳ.) So in the Ḳur [xxxv. 41], وَلَا يَحِيقُ المَكْرُ السَّيِّئُ إِلَّا بِأَهْلِهِ [And evil artifice shall not beset any save the authors thereof]: (Ṣ:) or this means shall not befall: (Mṣb:) [for] حاق به, (Ibn-ʼArafeh, Mṣb, Ḳ,*) aor. as above, (Mṣb, TA,) inf. n. حَيْقٌ and حَاقٌ, (TA,) signifies [also] it clave to him, and became his due, (Ibn-ʼArafeh, Ḳ,) and befell him: (Ibn-ʼArafeh, Mṣb, Ḳ,) and thus it is said to mean in the Ḳur [xi. 11, &c.], وَحَاقَ بِهِمْ مَا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ [And that at which they used to mock shall cleave to them, or be their due, or befall them; namely, the punishment at which they mocked.] (TA.) You say also, حاق بِهِمُ العَذَابُ Punishment beset them, and befell them. (Ṣ.) And حاق بِهِ البَلَآءُ Trial, or trouble, beset him. (TA in art. حق.)
حاق فِيِ, (Ḳ,) inf. n. حَيْقٌ, (TA,) i. q. حاك. (Ḳ.)

حايقهُ, (AA, Ḳ,) inf. n. مُحَايَقَةٌ, (AA, TA,) He envied him, and hated him. (AA, Ḳ.)

احاق ٱللّٰهُ بِهِمْ مَكْرَهُمْ God made their artifice to beset them: (Lth, TA:) or made it to befall them. (Th, Ḳ,* TA.)
الجُوعِ
حاقُ الجُوعِ Vehemence of hunger. (TA.) See also حَاقٌّ, in art. حق
حَيْقٌ
حَيْقٌ What besets a man, (ʼEyn, Ḳ,) and befalls him, of artifice, (ʼEyn, TA,) or of an evil deed, that he has done. (ʼEyn, Ḳ.)
