تَلَوَّنَ It became coloured. (MA, KL.) See 1.
It became variegated, or diversified in colour.
And hence, (see تغّول,) It varied in state, or condition; it was, or became, variable therein. He assumed various forms, or appearances.
تَلَوَّنَ فُلَانٌ Such a one varied in disposition. (Mṣb.)

لَوْنٌ Colour: (Ṣ, Mṣb, Ḳ:) distinctive quality or property: (M, Ḳ:) sort, or species: (Ṣ, Ḳ:) mood, disposition, or character.
أَلْوَانُ
أَلْوَانُ الأَطْعِمَةِ [Sorts, or species, of viands]. (Ṣ in art. بأج.)
مُتَلَوِّنٌ
مُتَلَوِّنٌ Varying, or variable, in dispositions.
