مَتَأَ, aor. ـَ {يَمْتَأُ}, He beat a person with a staff or stick. (Ṣ, Ḳ.)

Also, inf. n. مَتْءٌ, (TA,) He extended, or stretched out, a rope: (Ṣ, Ḳ:) a dial. form of مَتَا. [See art. متو]. (Ṣ.)
